Rebecca is our leader and the one stewarding the club through its regrowth phase. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Child and Youth Care from the University of Victoria and over a decade of experience with the Government of Alberta dealing with vulnerable families – she has boots on the ground experience.
She also gets credit for building out our current executive team and expanding our membership – she is keeping our team on course.
One of her greatest strengths and one of the aspects to our new club growth – is her empathy and connection with communities who might not otherwise connect with a more traditional service club. She is the one who led the charge on our connection with Gear-Up and has helped our membership consider new directions on how to help kids and families.
Treasurer – Douglas McGregor
Doug is our business guru, our numbers guy – the closer. A former camp counsellor and professional chef, he has worked at some of the top restaurants in Western Canada. He knows how to run a kitchen and a budget. More recently, he has taken on the role of Food Services Manager at Kamp Kiwanis – where he can combine his love of the outdoors, culinary experience, and leadership skills.
Secretary – Brett Shikaze
Brett might lovingly be called the club gopher. Need a website? Brett go figure it out. Need a connection? Brett do you know someone? He tries to take notes during meetings and keep our records up to snuff.
His involvement with the club started early (his Dad was a member before he was born). He practices Family Law and skis (quickly!) on weekends.
Membership Chair – Robyn Edgar
Robyn is our membership chair extraordinaire! She has been working hard to recruit and retain new members since taking on this role. She has organized a number of membership events including an event at one of the Project Kampfire sites so that club members could see more about the causes we support. She is also our primary liaison with the Crescent Heights Key Club.
In her free time, she curates the adventures of William T Goat (pictured below) and also skis quickly on weekends.
